PeopleLink’s 4K UHD Active Optical Cables For Next-gen AV Applications When it comes to cabling, Active Optical Cables (AOC) uses optical fibre "between the connectors" but accepts the same electrical inputs as a conventional HDMI Extender. AOC uses electrical-to-optical conversion at the cable ends to boost the cable's speed and range performance without compromisingitsability to work with standard electrical connectors.
